Estate Planning

When you hire me to assist you with your estate planning, I will start by asking you a lot of questions so that I can learn as much as possible about your assets and obligations, as well as your goals and objectives. Next, I will carefully explain the different strategies available to help you meet your objectives, including the use of wills and trusts, the re-titling of assets such as homes or financial accounts, and lifetime gifting. Once you have selected the strategy that best fits your needs, I will prepare all the documents required to put your estate plan into place, including:

  • Wills
  • Trusts
  • Powers of attorney
  • Health care directives

Probate and Estate Administration

If you have been named executor, administrator or personal representative of the estate of a loved one, I can help you complete all the requirements to successfully settle the estate, including:

  • The preparation of an inventory of the estate's assets
  • The payment of all final debts
  • The filing of all federal forms to take care of estate taxes
  • The distribution of the assets of the estate according to the terms of the will

I will also look carefully at the estate to determine the impact of the Texas community property laws, if the spouse of the deceased is still alive.

Will Contests and Other Estate Administration Litigation

I handle both contested and uncontested estate administration. If there are no challenges to the will, I can help you settle the estate in 6-8 months with a few court appearances. If you are a potential beneficiary and want to contest the provisions of the will, or if you need to defend a will against a challenge, I have the experience to handle the probate litigation.
